Short Biography

Alexey A. Tuzhilin was born in February 9, 1963, in Moscow.
In 1980 he graduated from physical-mathematical school N 2 of Moscow city, and entered Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in Lomonosov Moscow State University.
In 1985 he graduated from the faculty and started post-graduate course under supervision of academician, professor Anatoly T. Fomenko (Department of High Geometry and Topology of the same faculty).
In 1989 he started to work in Laboratory of Renewable Sources of Energy in Geographical Faculty of Lomonosov State University.
In 1990 he defended his candidate dissertation (PhD) in Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in the same university. The title is "Morse's Indices of Minimal Surfaces", scientific advisor Prof. Anatoly T.Fomenko.
In 1996 he was Visiting Professor in Bonn University, Germany.
In 1997 he defended his doctor dissertation (habilitation) in Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in the same university. The title is "Classification of Local Minimal Planar Networks with Convex Boundaries".
From 1992 he works in Department of Differential Geometry and Applications of the same faculty.
In 1994 he was Visiting Professor in IMECC, UNICAMP, Campinas, SP, Brazil.
From 2000 he became Full Professor of Department of Differential Geometry and Applications, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in Lomonosov Moscow State University.
In addition, he worked as Professor of  Institute of Natural Science and Ecology (nowadays it is a part of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology).
In 2002 he was Visiting Professor in Max Plank Institute in Leipzig, Germany
During 2006-2008  he was Visiting Professor in Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China.
From 2007 he became a member of Expert Council on Mathematics and Mechanics (Higher Attestation Commission), 01.01.04 - Geometry and Topology.
From 2009 he became a member of Academic Council of Faculty of  Mecanics and Mathematics.
He is the Head of Laboratory of Computer Methods in Natural and Humanitarian Sciences.
